Rapper/producer Swizz Beatz and his wife Mashonda have separated after four years of marriage. The couple was married in 2004 and have a son, Kassem Jr., who was born in January 2007.

Despite a likely divorce, the musician, born Kasseem Dean, is said to maintain an amicable relationship with his wife, who as an R&B singer is also a music industry vet.

“Their union was one shared in love and deep admiration for one another. For the last seven months, the two have been working on establishing a formidable friendship<--more-->, being great parents to their son, and remaining great supporters of each other's careers,” a representative of Swizz Beatz told AllHipHop. “The couple has asked that their privacy be respected at this time.”

The two professionals still hard at work, with Swizz working on his third solo album and Mashonda involved in a new swimwear line and the start of an arts-based school for kids.
