Wyclef Jean Launches Food Program to Help Hungry People in Haiti
Posted May 20, 2008
Singing rapper Wyclef Jean has launched a food relief program to help residents in his native country of Haiti, where many residents are suffering a food shortage. According to reports, farmers are failing to produce enough crops to feed the population, in turn causing food prices to soar. Many people are reportedly facing starvation.
Jean has launched the Together for Haiti initiative via his charity organization YƩle Haiti, which has teamed with the World Food Program (WFP) and the Pan American Development Foundation (PADF). The program will work with a number of non-government organizations and community groups to address the food crisis by repairing damaged soil and using other methods to help farmers to produce larger crops.
