Pop star Rihanna is on a mini-tour to raise funds for the Believe Foundation - her charity for under-priveleged children. Founded in 2006, the charity aids needy children across the globe, providing necessities like medical care and school supplies.

The Grammy-winning artist will perform the series of special shows, called "A Girls Night Out," to raise awareness for the foundation and entertain ill children.

"When I was young and I would watch television and I would see all the children suffering, I always said when I grow up I want to help," Rihanna told People.com. "Not long after I was in the position where I could help.

"I started to visit all these children’s hospitals and I have a soft spot for kids. I just want to help and make sure they are happy. They can come to a Rihanna concert or have toys or gifts at Christmas."

The Bajan singer launched the tour Wednesday night at Chicago, Illinois’ Vision nightclub. She has another two shows scheduled for March 28 at San Francisco’s Ruby Skye and April 9 at New York City’s HighLine Ballroom.
